Chess lesson

This year the students of 2nd grade started to play Chess in English! For this subject, we divide the class in two groups and  every week one group goes to the Computer Room while the other group plays Chess.

For the first few lessons we reviewed the pieces we had learned in 1st grade. So far we have seen the movement of the pawn, the bishop and the rook; as well as how to capture with them.

We also learned that every chess piece has a point value assigned to it. So, the pawn is one point, the bishop is three points and the rook is five points. At the end, we played a short game and counted the points of the captured pieces to determine the winner of each game. We had a lot of fun!
